Prize-Winning Art for Magic

Time Walk

Well, to be more accurate, that's art for Magic that you get as a prize. Nine years ago, Organized Play Program Manager Scott Larabee came up with the idea of commissioning alternate-art versions of the so-called Power 9, a group of cards from the very beginning of the game that are both immensely powerful and revered by fans. That first year saw Christopher Rush create a new version of Black Lotus, and the winner of that year's Vintage Championship took home the one-of-a-kind item. Each year the Power 9 has grown. The five Moxes - Pearl, Ruby, Jet, Emerald, and Sapphire - were all created by Volkan Baga, who re-imagined the famous five in the style of that year's overall artistic design.

This year sees the end of the line, with Chris Rahn creating a new version of Time Walk. However, with Legacy such a popular format, Larabee has started a new line, with Matt Stewart creating the amazing Force of Will, comfortably the most recognised card from the Legacy format. Sure, cash is nice, but these really are the kind of trophies that money can't buy. Totally unique, and totally yours, if you can claim either the Vintage or Legacy titles here at Gen Con.

Force of Will

With the Power 9 now gone, what will Larabee do for the next Vintage Championship? Whatever it is, you can bet it will be every bit as spectacular as these brand new images. Time to get practicing...
