Released in 2009, the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary from Paizo Publishing has exploded to become one of the most popular fantasy RPGs ever released. Based on the 3.5 edition of the Dungeons & Dragons rules published under the Open Game License (OGL), Pathfinder now has a full catalog of support including the beautifully illustrated hardcover rulebooks, the Pathfinder Society Organized Play program, and the excellent Adventure Path series.
New players should look out for the Beginner Box scheduled for release in October 2011. More experienced roleplayers only need the Core Rulebook to get started.
