Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer came to me at a good time. I was knee-deep in Dominion expansions that I was getting sick of, and the gameplay from Ascension kept things varied so that no two games felt the same for quite a while. It was also quick to pick up and play, which was a huge plus to me since I hated having to spend too much time learning rules for board games.
